Horse in Menorca

 Since we have seen, in Menorca they count on a native race of horses, very valued in all Europe. This interest intensified in the decade of 1980, and begin the public initiatives as much as prevailed so that this race is recognized officially.
    The horse is united to Menorca throughout history, since it was a fundamental element in the defense of the island (in fact the Camí de Cavalls still exists, way that surrounds all the island). The man has known to defend this close relation protecting it and balancing his popular works in celebrations, with those of the field.
Also he is in years 80 when the menorquina taming is regulated, a style that has become sport discipline thanks to its recognition on the part of the Balearic Federation of Equestrian.     Race course Tower of the ram, in Ciutadella (971 384 132). In this stage it is in the unique one that can see flat racing trote (hooked with cars of 2 wheels in that the rider goes) in Spain.
    Between May and October, festivales are celebrated all the week ends, Sundays as of the 16,00 hours. Each festival is made up of 6 to 8 races, in which they participate between 80 and 90 horses. The bets are allowed. They emphasize like indicated dates the 6 of May (Tribute to Julià Arnau), the 25 of June (Sant Joanet), and the 29 of July, 5 and 12 of August (special prizes Ciutat de Ciutadella).
