Museum of Menorca

 Museum of Menorca, in the Place of San Francisco s/n (971 350 955), also in Mahón. The schedule is of Tuesday to Saturday of 10,00 to 14,00 hours and 17,00 to 20,00 hours between April and September (summer time), and of 10,00 to 13,00 hours and 16,00 to 18,00 hours between October and March (winter time).
    It was the old franciscan convent of century XV, del that is not architectonic rest. The present construction data of centuries XVII-XVIII, with later reforms. In 1835, with the confiscation of Mendizábal, it was expelled to the franciscan ones and it happened to be nautical school, public library, comprehensive school and home of childhood. The origin of the Museum is in 1889.
    They are two plants in which eleven rooms are distributed, that explain the evolution of history and the customs of Menorca. In the first plant we found from the pretalayótica culture (it emphasizes “torito of Torralba” and the “Imhoteb of the Tower d'en Gaumés”) to the first contacts with the outer world (Roman and Byzantine).
    In the second plant it is dedicated from the Islam to the painting of century XX.
