S'Albufera d'es Grau

In 1993 Menorca Reserve of the Biosphere by UNESCO was declared, with lagoon DES Grau and 19 Natural Areas of Special Interest; In 1999 another level of protection for the marine Reserve of the North of Menorca is created, within the framework politician of fishing management of the Balearic Govern.
It is located in the coast of the tramontana of the island and one characterizes by his good state of conservation and a great beauty of landscapes and nature. This fact tries to avoid the operation of the marine resources and to foment its young and proliferation of the marine species.
The wealth animal and vegetable is highest. They emphasize plants, fish (Mediterranean species, and the water lobster of certain depth).
They are 5,119 hectares marine that go from end DES Morter in the Bay of Fornells to the CAP Gros.
S'Albufera DES Grau is a humid zone of great biological wealth, where they inhabit different species from aquatic birds and that it is obligatory scale for migratory birds where they nest in summer and they feed his young.
    At the moment it is part of the park that includes in addition the Illa d'en Colom and the zone of CAP of Favàritx - Prat de Morella. It is considered like the nucleus of the Biosphere Reserve.
    We find an ample sample book of biotopes: humid zones, territories of culture and grass, mount low, communities of the coast, cliffs, dunes, beaches…
    The axis of the lagoon is S'Albufera, of waters fed by torrents of Sa Boval and is Puntarró, and can communicate to the sea abierto through channel of sa Gullet. 
    In its waters we found eels, mullets and sea basses, crustaceans, amphibians and reptiles, although the great majority is birds as you add or hens of water, herons, cormorants, or fishing eagles.
    As far as the vegetation, there is pine between the beach and fresh waters (as in Cove of sa Turret), tamarinds (the Prat) or vegetation higrófila and halófita (around the lagoons).

The Illa d'en Colom can consider catalogue of the species that grow in the northeastern coast.
    In the neighborhood of S'Albufera, within the Park but in private lands traditional agricultural activities stay, showing to the balance between man and nature.
